Traveling basics and what's in my carry on bag.

Hooray! All packed & ready to move into Cinderlla's Castle go!

Since we leave for Disney World TOMORROW (!!!), I thought it might be fun to share a little bit about what I'm packing.  I have another post regarding what I'm taking for our time in the parks, as well as some details about our Magic Bands, which I'll be sharing tomorrow.  Make sure you stop by to check that out!

Plane travel means I have to consider my outfit a bit more carefully.  I take into consideration where we're traveling to, the weather there, and what will be comfortable enough to wear at home on the way to the airport, and on the plane.  My go-to outfit when traveling at this time of year from Detroit to someplace warm, is usually the following.

For this kind of trip, I try to dress in simple layers, such as a black maxi dress and a chambray shirt (this one is my favorite! *cue the praise hands emoji*), worn like a jacket, because planes get cold, but I'm DONE dressing in sweaters.  I keep my jewelry minimal, typically wearing pearl studs and my wedding rings, and my favorite sandals, which are suuuuper comfy and easy to slip off for TSA.

When I travel via plane, I usually try to be very diligent about only taking a carryon, because 1) I'm cheap, 2) it's typically more convenient for me.  This time however, we're checking a ginormous bag that will be delivered straight to our room, and I'll only be taking "real" carry on needs - mainly, my purse!  I am usually bad for carrying a fantastically huge purse everyday, but for this trip, I'm settling for a cross body.

For the trip down to Orlando, I'm keeping things SUPER simple in my purse.  I'll be carrying what I typically have in my daily bag, with a few special additions of our MagicBands (more about those later) and a sleeping mask, since our flight is early-ish, and knowing me, I probably won't get too much sleep the night before.  (I turn into a child the night before a Disney trip…every time, without fail, because, well…DISNEY!!!)

1.   Sleep Mask - our flight is pretty early on Friday morning, so I'm bringing this just in case I feel like I need to catch a couple more hours of sleep.  I'll probably be too excited, but I know I'll also probably be up all night tonight because I turn into a four year old when I go to Disney - too excited for sleep.

2.   Rosebud Salve - I always have this in my purse, but I'm making sure I bring it on the plane with me, since my lips tend to dry out really bad on planes.  Plus, the rosy scent is my favorite!  (Friends have told me it makes me smell like an old lady, but I really don't care.  I love rose scented anything.)

3.   Magic Bands - we'll need these when we get to our resort, so I'm making sure they're not in my checked bag.  Check out my upcoming post for more details! (I'll link it here too, after it goes live.)

4.   Coin purse (mine is old, but I've linked similar options) - This cutesy little lemon change purse is going to serve dual purpose, for my ID, and some other things when I use my bag in the park.  I'm using this rather than my regular wallet, because I'm trying to save space, and I don't need all of my other cards I regularly carry for this trip!  (I also have a couple bandaids tucked in here, because well, I'm accident prone.)

5.   My purse - I found this vintage Coach bag at an antique store awhile back, and was thrilled because I knew it would be perfect for this trip, as my carry on bag, AND my park bag.  I also love this option or this one!

6.   Sunglasses - because I'm anticipating some beautiful Emmett sunshine when we step outside in Florida :)

7.   iPhone + Headphones - I'll try to sleep, but if I can't, I want to be able to listen to my Disney playlist!  (Yes, I'm that person. I have a playlist of all sorts of Disney songs. Don't judge me.)

8.   My "Can't Live Without's" - I always have lavender oil in my purse.  I use it for headaches, and I LOVE to use it for it's calming purposes.  I cannot say enough good things about my Tide pen; it has saved me from many a stain; Mr. Tide Pen goes EVERYWHERE with me.  And finally, hand sanitizer.  People. The world is a dirty, germ-y, nasty place.  Use sanitizer!

I tried to keep things to a minimum, so I didn't have to carry "clutter-y" items with me, like excessive amounts of paper.  I have the Delta app on my phone, which keeps track of my plane ticket and luggage info.  I have thought about bringing our tablet too, so we could watch Cinderella on the way down (you know, in case I can't sleep ;), if we do decide to bring it, that will go into Ryan's carry on bag.  I think I'm pretty well set though…now I just need it to be TOMORROW!  :)
